News of Shopify laying off 10% of it’s employees – around 1000 people – surprised many this week. Shopify’s CEO Tobias Lütke admitted they’d made mistakes during the pandemic era, the biggest of which was betting as big as they did on the future of Ecommerce and it’s ability to thrive during global uncertainty.

However it is not all doom and gloom in the world of online retail. Some of Shopify’s biggest competitors and software app partners are rushing to fill hundreds of open roles as the Ecommerce boom continues in many sub-categories of the industry.
